Book XXV: The Trial of Revelation
Book XXV of the Foundation of Asha's Codex, The Library That Does Not Burn. The single-target demolition: borrowed name, alien Greek, contested canon, recycled visions, the fusion-weld that manufactured the Devil.

1The author of Revelation never claims to be the apostle John; he calls himself a servant, a brother, and a prophet, and nothing more.
-
2The apostolic identification was supplied around sixty years later, first surviving in Justin Martyr, inside an argument for a literal millennium.
-
3Revelation is not a forgery, its author signed his own honest name, and the misattribution belongs entirely to the tradition.
-
4Dionysius of Alexandria demonstrated in the 260s, from vocabulary and grammar, that the Apocalypse and the Fourth Gospel cannot share an author.
-
5Revelation's Greek is the most irregular in the New Testament, and every explanation for it ends by severing the book from the Fourth Gospel's author.
-
6Revelation has the worst canonical attendance record in the New Testament.
-
7The Eastern Orthodox Church still does not read Revelation in its liturgical lectionary, the only New Testament book with no home there, so the ancient doubt survives as standing practice, not memory.
-
8Luther's 1522 preface judged it "neither apostolic nor prophetic," Zwingli would not rank it as a biblical book, and Calvin commented on every New Testament book except this one and two postcards.
-
9Roughly 278 of Revelation's 404 verses carry Hebrew Bible material and the book contains not one acknowledged quotation, the most derivative text in the New Testament, presented as fresh unveiling.
-
10Revelation's macro-structure tracks the arc of Ezekiel, and its two most sacred set pieces, the throne room and the new Jerusalem, are its two most thoroughly pre-owned.
-
11Revelation 12:9 and 20:2 welded the serpent of Eden, the satan of Job's court, the Greek diabolos, and the combat-myth dragon into a single Enemy that exists as a package nowhere else in scripture.
-
12That weld is pre-imperial, composed around 95 CE, generations before Constantine, so the empire inherited and industrialized the composite Devil rather than inventing him.
-
13666 is first-century political cryptography for Neron Qesar, and the 616 variant preserved in Papyrus 115 and Codex Ephraemi is the same emperor's name in its Latin spelling.
-
14The book's own sponsor, Irenaeus, knew the 616 variant and was already reduced to guessing candidate names by 180 CE, which is the biography of a topical cipher, not of a timeless prophecy.
-
15The apostolic attribution was made load-bearing by Irenaeus in service of a specific program.
-
16The church then allegorized away the very millennium its sponsors canonized the book for: Eusebius rated the doctrine's carrier a simpleton.
-
17The modern end-times industry's three flagship doctrines, the rapture, the Antichrist, and the seven-year tribulation, appear nowhere in Revelation.
-
18The modern engine's architecture is documented and dated.
-
19Apocalyptic date-setting has a two-thousand-year failure rate of one hundred percent and has never lost market share, because its product is anticipation, which is consumed rather than verified.
-
20Revelation is genuinely courageous anti-imperial resistance literature of extraordinary craft.
Add a claim
Anyone may add. Nobody may edit somebody else's line: if you think it is wrong, fight it. Keep it to one proposition, because that exact sentence becomes the motion when somebody disputes it.
Opening a war costs 25 gold and wins 50. You pick the arms: argue it in the Academy, or settle it at a game. Losing burns the deposit, which is why the button is not free. Whoever defends the line is paid by whichever engine judged them, and the house takes the podium if nobody else does, so no claim goes undefended. "Argue it now" is the free door: the line becomes the motion of a judged duel against the house, with no account and no gold, and the page keeps no record of it.
